Principal's Welcome

Le Fevre High School is one of the longest established secondary schools in South Australia with a proud tradition of providing quality educational opportunities since 1910.

Currently our school offers a diverse range of educational pathways in upgraded modern learning facilities; including the new Cliff Seery STEM centre, four new classrooms for Middle School teaching, our refurbished and soon to be newly named Home Economics Centre and the Lewis O’Brien Language Centre. Le Fevre High School is a Maritime School offering pathways into the diverse maritime industry. It is also an Advanced Technologies School offering pathways into the Defence industry. The school’s accreditation as a World School, due to our ongoing commitment to the International Baccalaureate: Middle Years Program (IBMYP), supports our focus on internationalism.

The school has a number of effective partnerships with industries and universities through the Maritime program including Stage 1 and 2 Naval Engineering linked closely with Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC), Advanced Technologies Project (ATP)  and connected to the Australian Maritime College (University of Tasmania), the Certificate 1 in Engineering (Maritime) and the Certificate II in Maritime Operations with the Australian Maritime and Fisheries Academy  and the Defence Industry Pathways Program (DIPP) sponsored by ASC, Defence SA and ATP. All of these qualifications and opportunities can contribute to the completion of a student’s SACE.

The South Australian Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy (SAASTA) is hosted by Le Fevre High School. The program offers learning opportunities that have been culturally developed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Students can choose from SACE curriculum offerings including Stage 2 Integrated Learning, Stage 1 Aboriginal Studies and Stage 1 Integrated Learning. Vocational Education and Training courses are also available for students who have an interest in industry including Certificate III Fitness, Certificate III Sport and Recreation, Certificate III Community Services and Certificate III Hospitality.

The SAASTA program further offers the opportunity for students to be involved in specialist sports and/or science programs through a selection process external of Le Fevre High School.  These learning opportunities enable students to enter pathways at university, vocational education and training, traineeships and or future employment via SAASTA and PAFC key partnerships.

We are very proud of the past achievements of our school community and we are committed to the provision of diverse and innovative opportunities for our students. This success would not be possible without the support and commitment of our Governing Council and affiliated sub-committees, our students and their families and the wider community. It is the strength of these partnerships that make our school the success that it is.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our diverse and innovative learning opportunities and the Le Fevre High School community.

Kind regards,

Kirri Minnican
Principal
